Coordination of the BMBF-National Research Programme RIMAXFlood risk management in Germany is a complex field with many participants. Applied research needs to take that into account. RIMAX was coordinated by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in cooperation with CEDIM (Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technologies).
Technical and scientific support
The coordinating team aimed at providing organisational and scientific support to the research projects, in consultation with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and its assigned project management organisations.
It promoted the creation of synergies with national and European research activities and presents RIMAX and its research results among experts and politicians, thus was contributing to the effective transfer of research and development into practice.
Contact
The coordinating team served as a contact for the scientific community and the public. It promoted inter-project networking as well as networking with future users and with national and European stakeholders from the fields of science, administration, politics, economics and emergency services. The coordinating team presented RIMAX at both national and international levels, organized workshops and provided centralised geo-data for the projects for example.
